Accessibility
Last updated 18 September 2026
This site aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is a target, held to by testing rather than asserted. It partially conforms: most of the site meets that standard, and the exceptions we know about are listed below with another way to get the same information.
What is in place
- A skip link, real landmarks, and headings that run in order without gaps.
- Every control is a real control. The mobile menu is a checkbox and a label, not a scripted div, so it works with a keyboard and is announced correctly.
- Visible focus outlines everywhere, at three pixels, never removed.
- Every form field has a bound label. Errors come back as text a screen reader reads, on a page of their own, not as colour alone.
- Text contrast measured against the rendered pixels rather than assumed, including text over photographs, where automated tools report nothing at all.
- Images carry descriptive alternative text. Purely decorative background photographs carry empty alt text so they are skipped.
- The only thing that moves by itself is the video at the top of the home page, which plays without sound and has a Pause button. If your device is set to reduce motion, the video does not play and a still photo shows instead.
- Every page works with JavaScript disabled, including both forms. The site does ship a small amount of JavaScript, for the menu tabs, the specials slider, the photo viewer and the contact form's optional fields, but all of it is an enhancement: with scripting off the whole menu is visible as one list, the slider still swipes, the photos still open, and both forms still submit and confirm.
- Layout reflows to a single column and stays free of horizontal scrolling down to a 320 pixel viewport, and survives 200 percent zoom.
How it is tested
Automated checks with axe-core across every page and state, including the mobile menu open, a switched menu tab, the photo viewer open and the contact form's conditional fields shown; a Content Security Policy conformance pass in a real browser; keyboard-only walkthroughs; and contrast measured from rendered screenshots rather than from the stylesheet, because text over photography cannot be checked any other way. Automated testing catches a minority of barriers, so the reports below matter more than the tooling.
Known limits
- Links to the online ordering page, Instagram, Facebook, Google and Yelp lead to third-party services whose accessibility is outside this site's control. Ordering happens on that ordering page, not here.
- The menu is published here in full, but without prices: the restaurant supplied it that way. Prices have to be had by phone.
- The weekly specials are graphics made by the restaurant, shown in a slider that scrolls sideways. Each special is also written out as text, so a screen reader reads the day, the deal and the dish, and the slider can be scrolled by keyboard.
- Event flyers are posted by the restaurant's staff. Each event's name, and its date and time where it has one, are written out beside the flyer. If a flyer shows something that is not written out, call us and we will read it to you.
